  • What is the difference between the Tablet Remote and the Smart Zapper? There are only three main differences between these two devices, in terms of connectivity*, hardware, and power supply.
    *With different forms of connectivity come different requirements for your smartphone or tablet

    Tablet Remote (URC 8800)

    • Connectivity: Via a wireless network
    • Hardware: Can also function as a wireless access point
    • Power Supply: Mains switching power supply (5V, 0.6A)

    Smart Zapper (URC 8810)

    • Connectivity: Via Bluetooth Smart (Bluetooth Low Energy)
    • Hardware: Has 9 hard keys for quick access to your devices
    • Power Supply: Batteries, 2xAA

  • Is the NEVO App compatible with Windows 10 Mobile? Unfortunately the NEVO App is not available for any tablet and smartphone running Windows. There currently are no plans to make this possible in the future either. Read more
  • What is the recommended resolution for the Nevo app for Android tablets?

    The Nevo app is optimized for a resolution of 1280 x 800. Lower resolutions are not supported and higher resolutions may not be displayed properly.

    It’s possible that your device will work but is not yet listed. Your device must support Bluetooth Low Energy.

  • Can I pair the Smart Zapper with a tablet and a phone at the same time? No. Due to the way Bluetooth Low Energy works, it is only possible to pair with either a tablet or a phone, not both simultaneously. If you have the Nevo app installed on a tablet and a phone and wish to change control from one to the other, you must run the pairing process again.  It is not necessary to reprogram any devices or activities again.

    Yes, although the range of the Bluetooth can be limited, so may need to carry your phone or tablet between rooms.

  • The Smart Zapper can turn my Panasonic TV Off but not On again.

    Some Panasonic TVs require the Power key on the original remote control to be held down for a couple of seconds to turn the TV on. To solve this issue another key can be programmed with the Power function.
    From within an Activity on the Nevo app (for example Watch TV), tap the settings (gear) icon on the top right and select Edit Keys and select a key that you don’t use from one of the three main screens.
    Next select Function and from the list select Power or Power On. You can now return to the Activity by pressing the Back arrow on the left and that key will now send Power and you can hold it down as on your original remote.

  • How many devices can the Portal Keys of the Smart Zapper operate simultaneously? The Portal Keys are split up into four groups: "Power", "Channel Selection", "Volume control" and "Playback".
    With the exception of the "Power" key, after having programmed the Smart Zapper using the Nevo App, the Zapper Portal Keys can be assigned by one device per group.
